Re-election Campaign Announcement

Hampton, VA- Delegate A.C. Cordoza announced today his intention to seek reelection to the House of Delegates in the 86th House District. Since being elected in 2021, Delegate Cordoza has earned a reputation of being an effective legislator in the House of Delegates, passing twelve bills into law, advancing four resolutions and securing a historic opinion from Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares that increased educational opportunities for disadvantaged students to attend schools like Hampton University.

“Today, I announce my intention to run for re-election to serve the people of Hampton, York and Poquoson in the Virginia House of Delegates district 86. I ran for office to give working class people in my community a voice as we were often overlooked by politicians in Richmond. Now, I have the opportunity to be their voice and get real, positive change in our community. It is very humbling to have this opportunity to lead.”

Delegate Cordoza’s accomplishments include:

-Improving Public Safety: HB 2256 Secured funding for security cameras at Fort Monroe to combat crime.

-Reducing burdensome regulations and fees on Virginians: Voted to eliminate the outdated grocery tax and provide tax relief for veterans.

-Stood up for Anglers: HB1112 Changed the code of Virginia to ensure the Department of Game and Fisheries provide options for multi-year saltwater fishing licenses.

-Preserved Black History: HB2244 Funded Hampton’s historical black veteran cemetery.

-Secured the “Andre Alert”: HB1060 Improved the reporting of missing people in Virginia.

-Protected Seniors: HB2250 Training for law enforcement to facilitate those with dementia and Alzheimer’s.

-Fixing Education: Held the first “Student Summit” in Hampton that empowered young people and gave them a voice regarding their educational journey.

“A lot has been accomplished since my election, I am proud of that, but we must continue to work together, work across racial and political lines for real, positive change. I am a uniter, not a divider, only together can we overcome our challenges and make sure Virginia is the best place to work, live, and raise a family. There is much work to be done and I am excited to continue being the voice for Virignia’s working class ”

Election Day is Tuesday November 7th, 2023 with early voting starting in September for all General Assembly elections. The 86th District includes Hampton (Part), Poquoson and York County (Part).
